"Set of 2 ""Nature's Design"" Kudu Horn/Ostrich Egg Wall Lamps"
Quantity in Basket: None
Code: 100610128
Price: $749.00

Give your favorite room in the house a special glow with a set of our custom-made Kudu wall lamps. We combine Kudu Horn, Ostrich Egg shades and a base of rare African Yellow Fever Wood to create a beautiful and functional source of diffused light. The warm glow these lamps emit is due to the thick and very durable Ostrich Egg shades that top each piece. These beautiful creations use a shorter 40 watt ceiling fan bulb so it will not protrude above the open top of the shade.

We combine full sized horns from the Grey Ghost of Africa and polished Ostrich eggs for a stunning visual. If you want to bracket a special piece of furniture or frame a unique decorative element a pair of these wall lamps are “Just what the Doctor Ordered.” All our kudu horns are secured during Government authorized cull hunts in South Africa and are legally imported through US Customs.

The Yellow Wood base is indigenous to South Africa and is the only tree the endangered Cape Parrot uses for nesting. For that reason, these rare trees are given protected status. When the trees die and are no longer used by the parrots, a select few loggers licensed by the Government are allowed to harvest them. We purchase our lumber from a sawmill in South Africa that processes this beautiful wood from the loggers. The random sized pieces we use are approximately 3/4” thick.

This extremely dense wood feature beautiful pale oranges and yellows accented with beige highlights. How much character the wood displays depends on what part of the tree your particular piece came from and how long it has been seasoned by the elements. Cleaner pieces typically come from the middle of the tree. More rustic pieces usually come from the outer portion and can contain small remnants of the bark, hairline cracks and open knots from being dried in the equatorial sun. Even by exotic wood standards, African Yellow Wood exhibits a stunning, naturally dramatic appearance.

The Yellow Wood bases on these lamps measure approximately 28-34” tall, 6-8” wide at the top and taper to 4-5” at the bottom. The oval ostrich egg is approximately 5” tall and about the size of a grapefruit. Mounting these lamps is easy as the back features standard hanger brackets that allow for fast mounting using the #6 round head screws provided. We include two packets of mounting hardware for this piece: one for wood and another for drywall. Ideally, you would sink the mounting screws into wood or wood studs.

Gun, Coat, or Hat Racks, bookends, or other lamps for a stunning, coordinated look. Price above does not include S+H charges.
