ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
As the name implies, these were used in the ceremonial execution of (primarily slaves) individuals in the Congo. This very large piece measures 28” overall and has heavy brass wire wrapping just above the wooden handle. The cutting edge is the top, rounded part of the blade and the individual’s neck was placed in a tree trunk shaped the same way. This is a very well known style to collectors of African edged weapons and this one is an exceptionally well made example in very good condition. It is flawless except for a minor crack on the blade spur. We estimate this piece to be approximately 100 years old.
